Naomi Phipps Lane Hall

Mrs. Naomi Phipps Lane Hall, age 89, a resident of Washington, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at Beaufort County Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington conducted by the Rev. George Daniels and James Warren.
Mrs. Hall was born in Pamlico County on April 25, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Carly Arthur Phipps and Ollie Ursula Fornes Phipps. She graduated from Chocowinity High School and Beaufort County Community College. Mrs. Hall worked as a nurse at Beaufort County Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of West End Baptist Church and the Choctaw Council #51, Degree of Pocahontas.
Mrs. Hall was married to her first husband, Troy Lane, who preceded her in death, Aug. 6, 1988. Later, she married Garnett Lee Hall, who preceded her in death, Aug. 13, 2000.
She is survived by two sons, Troy L. Lane and his wife, Hilda A. Lane of Washington, James Maynard Lane and his lifetime partner, Linda M. Roberts of Wilmington; considered as a son, Michael C. Gillis and his wife, Genevieve Gillis of Washington; one brother, William Phipps of Hialeah, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Lane Warren; three brothers, and two sisters.
The family received friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her home, 405 Hudnell St., Washington.
