On Tuesday, investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office’s narcotics unit served an arrest warrant on Robert Earl Elks Sr., 61, of 160 Donna Ave., Vanceboro.

Elks’ arrest stemmed from investigators making an undercover controlled purchase of a trafficking amount of prescription pain medication. Elks was charged with level 1 trafficking in opium or heroin by possession.

Elks was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond.
