On July 3, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office’s narcotics unit conducted an undercover controlled purchase of heroin from William Logan Whichard, 19, of 3028 Whichard’s Beach Road, Chocowinity, and Danielle Baker, 18, of 1977 N.C. Highway 102, Chocowinity. The narcotics unit conducted surveillance on Whichard and Baker and followed them to Greenville, where Whichard met with his heroin supplier, according to the sheriff’s office. The narcotics unit followed Whichard and Baker back to Beaufort County, where a traffic stop was conducted on their vehicle. As a result of the stop, investigators seized heroin and heroin-snorting straws.
Whichard and Baker were arrested, and each was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, conspiracy to sell/deliver heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Each was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
