Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.

Since when should Hyde County commissioners concern themselves with the management of bear hunting in Hyde County? This intervention is just another example of pandering to special interests. Commissioners have more important items they should be attending to. The Wildlife Resource Commission has the staff and resources in place to oversee bear hunting. Perhaps our local politicians should stop infringing on the rights of taxpaying landowners and stop pandering to those who have money.

Are we sure it was Blackbeard who fired cannon balls into the houses on Water Street or was it Union soldiers?

I am looking at Thursday’s paper. In Sound Off, someone was talking about Carla Mills singing “Ave Maria.” Beautiful was not the word for it. I have never heard this song sung as beautiful as she sung it. I wish everyone could have heard it.

Can you believe the city sent spy cameras to see who is feeding those poor, homeless cats downtown? Unbelievable! If they are not fed, you are going to have a lot of dead cats downtown.
