On July 15, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny at a business on N.C. Highway 33, Chocowinity. The victim reported $1,000 worth of stainless steel had been stolen from the business.

The stolen metal was located at a recycling business in Vanceboro and returned to the victim.

As a result of an investigation, Investigator Rob Voliva obtained warrants charging Shelby Joe White, 44, of Mouth of the Creek Road, Blount’s Creek, with one count of felony larceny and one count of obtaining property by false pretense.

White turned himself in at the magistrates’ office Friday. He was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond.
