John and Jolene Jernigan of Washington, NC, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Dr. Kristel Leigh Jernigan to Dr. Robert Allen McLawhorn.

The bridegroom is the son of Jean and Tommy Sugg of Grifton, NC, and Bobby and Michelle McLawhorn of New Bern, NC.

The couple will exchange vows October 8, 2011, at 5 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington, NC.
