Washington County Manager Robert E. Bencini III has resigned after about two months in the position, according to a press release issued by the Washington County Board of Commissioners on Monday.

The release did not state a reason for the resignation. Bencini began working as county manager June 7. He replaced David Peoples, who resigned earlier this year.

The board appointed Cheryl Young, who’s served as county attorney and assistant county manager since April 2008, as interim county manager.
