Thomas “Tom” B. Ormond, Sr.

Mr. Thomas “Tom” Bowen Ormond, Sr., age 69, a resident of 2221 Bayview Road Bath, died Wednesday August 17, 2011 at his home, after a long courageous battle with cancer since 2004.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday August 20, 2011 at St. Clair’s Church of Christ officiated by Craig Hagen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Elders and deacons of St. Clair’s Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Bath Ruritan Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Ormond was born in Beaufort County on December 7, 1942, son of the late Harold Blane Ormond Sr. and Helen Credle Ormond, who survives. He was a 1961 graduate of Bath High School. On September 20, 1964, he married the former Gloria Woolard who survives.
Mr. Ormond was a farmer and also worked on airplanes. He was a member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ and held various positions including deacon for 29 years and Superintendent of Sunday School for two years. Mr. Ormond was a member of the Bath School Board, Bath Ruritan Club and served as president for one year. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and loved farm auctions. His dream was realized with the creation of Ormond Amphitheater.
In addition to his wife, Gloria of the home and his mother, Helen Ormond of Bath, he is survived by his children:  Tommy Ormond and wife Sheila of Bath, Nichole Griekspoor and husband Timothy also of Bath and Pepper Manning and husband Brent of Spring Hope; his grandchildren:  Sierra Brooke Ormond, Landon Thomas Ormond, Blaine Allan Griekspoor, Eli Shelton Manning and Anna Thomas Manning; his sister: Cynthia Brickhouse Marsh and husband Jack; his brothers: Harold B. Ormond, Jr. and wife Nelda and Kenneth C. Ormond and friend Betsy all of Bath and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 4:00-5:30 p.m. following the service on Saturday at St. Clair’s Church of Christ and other times at the home.
