On Aug. 15, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sex offense that occurred in Pinetown. The victim was under the age of 13.

On Monday, Investigator Wesley Waters obtained warrants charging James Justin Mitchell, 22, of Duck Creek Shore Road, Washington, with two counts of first-degree rape of a child. That same day, Mitchell turned himself in at the magistrates’ office, where he was held under a $30,000 secured bond.
