Hey, editor: Guess who pays for those public-sector jobs? The private sector, whose employees have been laid off for the past four years. It is about time the public sector shares in some of the pain and stop saying business is the enemy.
Subject: Kugler Field. Many of us in Beaufort County can say “memories are made of this” when we recall the “Y,” Charlie Bell’s, Miss Carver’s, The Saint Moritz, Radio View Grill, The Night Hawk, Webb’s, Park View drive-in theater and, of course, Kugler Field.
Let us pray that Hurricane Irene stays away from the East Coast.
Concerning the opinion-page cartoon, “The Pulpit Bully”: I would think your editorial page is the pulpit bully.

I am complaining about the gas prices in Aurora.
Was it really necessary to call everybody about the hurricane, which is still three days off, at 12:30 in the morning? Let’s use a little more common sense.
I did not appreciate being woken up at 12:23 a.m. Wednesday with a phone call from Beaufort County emergency management. Couldn’t this have been done during the day? It was very stupid.
