Dorothy Butler Wright, 88, of 651 Seth Way, Apartment 115, Hope Mills, North Carolina, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at her home surrounded by her two sons who were her main caregivers, David Butler Wright and Kenneth R. Wright. Dorothy Butler Wright was formerly from Washington, N.C., (Washington Park), 215 College Ave.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Wright Plot, Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, N.C., with the Rev. Polly Taylor officiating the service.

Dorothy Butler Wright was born in Washington, N.C., on June 26, 1923, to Romulus F. Butler and Laura S. Butler. Dot married Charles L. Wright, Jr. on Dec. 27, 1942. Dot attended the local schools and Louisburg College. Dot was office manager and bookkeeper for Wright Electric Company and kept books for several other businesses in the area. Dot was also a homemaker and a wonderful mother to her children. Dot was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was involved with her church circle. Dot had many friends who loved her dearly and she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include sons: David Butler Wright of Washington, N.C., and Kenneth R. Wright of Fayetteville, N.C. Daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Wright, wife of Kenneth R. Wright and granddaughter Ashley Bryant, both of Fayetteville, N.C.

The family will greet friends at the graveside and later after graveside service at First United Methodist Church, 304 W. Second St., Washington, N.C., in the Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to the Lights of Love, American Cancer Society, or to the First United Methodist Church, 304 W. Second St., Washington, NC 27889.
