Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. announced a $250,000 donation to the Beaufort County United Way for the PotashCorp/BCUW Hurricane Irene Fund. The fund will be used to support relief efforts in and around Aurora following Hurricane Irene. PotashCorp has approximately 1,100 employees at its Aurora phosphate facility.

“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the hurricane, including those PotashCorp Aurora employees who have suffered personal losses,” said PotashCorp President and CEO Bill Doyle. “We applaud all the volunteers and relief agencies involved in the clean up and hope that our contribution assists our neighbors in need.”

PotashCorp’s $250,000 contribution follows the company’s $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross pledged through the WITN/Inner Banks Media telethon. The company is also matching employee donations to relief efforts through its Employee Matching Gift program.

PotashCorp has been recognized for its community investments in Aurora, including its contributions to several record-breaking United Way campaigns. In 2010, PotashCorp received a Hero Award from the American Red Cross.
