Mrs. Abbie Tucker Wallace, age 89, a former resident of Wharton Station Road, Washington, NC died Saturday morning September 17, 2011 at the home of her daughter, in Grifton, NC.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday September 20, 2011 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by the Rev. Linda Rowe.
Mrs. Wallace was born on June 16, 1922, daughter of the late Abner Tucker and Virginia Smith Tucker.  She graduated from high school in Murfreesboro, TN and attended business school.  She was a teller with Bank of Washington and then she and her husband owned and operated Seaboard Supply in Washington.  Mrs. Wallace was a member of Pactolus Baptist Church and attended Grifton United Methodist Church.  She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi.
On December 25, 1947, she married Arthur Jackson “A.J.” Wallace Jr. who preceded her in death on June 25, 2011.
She is survived by her children: Jack Wallace and wife Gail of Washington and Pam W. Gray and husband Ervin of Grifton; her grandchildren: Buffy Moore and husband Robert and Heather Brown and husband, Tony; and her great grandchildren:  Abigail Moore, Robin Moore, Autumn Brown and Toni Lynn Brown.  In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by her brother: Ollie Tucker and her sisters: Daisy T. Kinslow, Anne Bell Tucker, Christine T. Holtsford and Blanche T. Powers.
The family will receive friends 7:00-8:30 PM on Monday at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.
