On Friday, investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office’s Drug Unit arrested Mark Anthony Cordon, 27, and Jessica Leigh Waters, 26, both of 3985 Kelly Road, Bath.
Each was charged with Level I trafficking in opium by possession and Level I trafficking in opium by transportation. Cordon and Waters were confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center, each under a $5,000 secured bond.
Their arrests stemmed from investigators conducting a traffic stop on Cordon’s vehicle. Elza, a drug-detecting dog, made a positive alert on the vehicle and a search was conducted. As a result of the search, investigators located marijuana smoking pipes and a plastic baggie containing a prescription pain medication.
