Neva Hope “Polly” Hill

Ms. Neva Hope “Polly” Hill, age 71, a resident of Winterville, passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 in Greenville, NC.
Ms. Hill was born in Beaufort County on December 5, 1939 to the late William and Vera Flemming Hill. She was raised in Pactolus, NC and was a 1959 graduate of Stokes-Pactolus High School. Polly was a newspaper carrier for twenty seven years for the Washington Daily News and later
worked at the Beaufort County Hospital where she retired in 2000. Ms. Hill was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include two daughters; Eva Hill Carman and husband John of Winterville and Natalie Hill of Winston Salem and two grandchildren; Jack and Allie Carman and family friend Gary Boyd, Jr. of Chocowinity. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer and son, John Eric.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Greenville and will be conducted by Bishop Rick Finlayson. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery in Chocowinity. Daniel Tiek, John Starnes, Kenneth Cogdell, Nathan Holliday and William “Buzz” Cayton will serve as pallbearers. Pete Peters, John Shaver, Christian Robinson and Jack Carman will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory of Washington.
