William Brooks Webb

William Brooks Webb, 89, a former Bath resident, passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 at University Health Systems Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, N.C.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 3rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Bath Christian Church in Bath, N.C. and at other times at the home of Martin and Earline Webb, 669 Rest Haven Road, Bath. The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 4th at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, N.C. at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Pinetops Cemetery in Pinetops, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Gray Baker Webb. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy W. Lester of Raleigh, two sons, Frank, and wife, Joanna, of Greenville and Martin, and wife, Earline, of Bath.  Also surviving are his granddaughters, Brooks Lester Murphrey and husband, Ben, of Raleigh, Casey and Virginia Webb of Greenville, and Ashley Webb and Joseph Humphreys of Bath, a grandson, Mason, of Bath, and a great granddaughter, Alyssa.
He served in the United States Army during World War II as a tech sergeant — Co. F. 386th Infantry 97th Division. He remained in close contact with the members of his company over the years, attending reunions all over the United States.
He was an active member of the Bath Christian Church serving as elder and was on the Board of Trustees.
He was an avid golfer, but his favorite pastimes were fishing and hunting.
