Margie Gray Waters

Mrs. Margie Gray Waters, age 93, a resident of 2759 Long Ridge Road, Pinetown, died Friday morning Oct. 7, 2011, at Ridgewood Manor.
Mrs. Waters was born May 25, 1918, in Pinetown and was the daughter of the late George and Bertie Waters. She was the oldest member of Five Points Free Will Baptist Church where she was also a member of the church ladies auxiliary. In October of 1937, she married Charlie Evans Waters who preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1990.
Mrs. Waters had a great love of gospel music. She enjoyed going to Riverside Gospel Music Campground whenever she could until her health began to decline. She was a great people person, had a wonderful smile and was a friend to all. She lived her working years as a farmer’s wife and had a passion for sewing and reading. Her entire family knew she was the best cook and biscuit maker around. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Pinetown.
Mrs. Waters is survived by her two sons: Phillip Waters and wife Faye of Pinetown; Steve Waters of Washington; a daughter, Donna Pippin and husband Don of Williamston; her grandchildren: Wayne Waters, Timmy Waters, Tony Waters and wife Penny, Karen Roberson and husband Stan, Adam Waters and wife Vicki, Ed Pippin, Stacey Pippin and wife Susan; her step-grandchildren: Mary Helen Jones and husband Larry, Donald Smith, Thomas Key and J.R. Key; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Seaton Latham, Leamon Latham, Tilman Latham and Wiley Waters; her sisters: Orsea Boyd, Fayetta Wallace, Lilly O’Mary and Lola Cox; her granddaughter, Beth Waters; a grandson, Jonathon Waters; and a daughter-in-law, Calie Waters.
The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory of Washington and at other times at the home of her son, Phillip Waters, located at 133 Main St., Pinetown.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday Oct. 9, 2011, at Five Points Free Will Baptist Church and officiated by Rev. Tom Lilley and Rev. Justin Marker.  Mark Bowen, Wade Biggs, Adrian Boyd, Wesley Wallace, Jamie Boyd and Mark Boyd will serve as pallbearers.  Burial will follow in the Latham family cemetery located on Long Ridge Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Five Points Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 12327 N.C. Highway 32 N., Pinetown, NC 27865, or the Pinetown Rescue Squad, 7262 North Boyd Road, Pinetown, NC 27865.
