Patricia Eakes Cox

Ms. Patricia Eakes Cox, age 69, a resident of Rivertrace, Washington, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at University Health Systems-Beaufort Hospital. A graveside celebration of her life will be held Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at 11 a.m., at Wesley Cemetery, Chocowinity, officiated by pastor Steve Hill. A visitation will be Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 U.S. Highway 264 East, Washington. The family will proceed in procession to the cemetery from Hillside Funeral Service following the visitation.

Ms. Cox was born on April 14, 1942, in Green County, daughter of the late William Arthur Eakes and Sally Creola Tripp Eakes. She was married to William David Cox Sr. who preceded her in death, Nov. 7, 2002. Ms. Cox was a loving mother and homemaker and a member of West End Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons, William Cox and wife Darlene of Chocowinity, and their daughters, Christina and Michele; James Cox and wife Linda of James City, and their daughters Jamie Lynn and Jennifer; Joseph Cox and wife Patricia of Washington, and daughter Ashley; and Robert Cox and wife Susan of Washington, and their sons Austin and Jacob; and her sister Joyce Eakes Gowers of Ayden.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Michele Lea Cox, three sisters and seven brothers.
