Griffin faces drug charges

At 10:47 a.m. Friday, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report about drugs found on a student at Southside High School.

Deputy Zack Martin responded to the school and collected evidence and information about the case from school staff. Nine bags of marijuana, 14 Hydrocodone pills, and a digital scale were seized.

Martin arrested Jamel Griffin, 19, of Ariel Drive, Grimesland. Griffin was transported to the magistrates’ office and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, trafficking opium or heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Griffin was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond.
