Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.

Finally, a Gene Lyons column that I will not wrap up with fish. His discussion of how to treat dogs was absolutely perfect. Please do more of him like that instead of the other junk.

Why did you just stand there and watch the tweens pull the bench out of the concrete in Harding Square on Friday night? Then they proceeded to wrench and tear it apart. You could have said something instead of just standing there. This is why our city gets in the shape it is in, because people are not proactive.

This is for all the people in Beaufort County and extending areas who continually make negative comments about the Daily News. If all you ever look for is the bad, then that is all you will ever see. There are good things in the paper if you would just take time to read them.

What is the story on mail delivery in Tranter’s Creek Estates on Saturday? We get in any time between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. This is ridiculous.

I could not agree more with Sunday’s editorial, Bridge project ill advised. It is definitely a huge waste of taxpayers’ money to refurbish a bridge that we have been able to live without. My church is close to that street, and I have no problem using another street to get to my church.

I think the paper is very nice. It keeps us in touch with what is going on in the county.
