Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.

For the person who said take time to read the Daily News and look for the good things: I do that every day. I start about 8 in the morning, and I am through by 8:05.

There is a great, big, dead tree beside the Travel Store on River Road. Why didn’t the men who were cutting down trees cut that one down? It looks bad, and it is dangerous.

We need a policeman on foot during special downtown events. The teens and tweens also pulled up three benches on the riverside promenade. Patrolling in a car will allow the police to see what is happening. Destroying these items that taxpayers have paid for is unbelievable.

Regarding the Harding Square vandalism incident: Whoever witnessed it should have intervened rather than criticizing our city because its people are not proactive.
