Marilyn Mason Bowen

Marilyn Mason Bowen, age 76, a former resident of Bath and most recently of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center in Fayetteville.

Ms. Bowen was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 24, 1935, the daughter of the late Rom L. and Elizabeth Paul Mason. She graduated from Bath High School and attended East Carolina for two years. Ms. Bowen was a bookkeeper and worked for John Deere until her retirement after 50 years of service. She was a member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ in Bath.

Ms. Bowen is survived by a sister, Polly Mason Strickland and husband Sheldon of Fayetteville; nieces and nephews, Ronnie B. Mason, Margaret M. Garnes, Linda Mason, Pat Shannon, Marc Strickland and Elizabeth Strickland. She was preceded in death by a brother Roland B. Mason.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Clair’s Church of Christ in Bath, officiated by pastor Craig Hagen.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
