Clark named NHS principal

Charles Clark, currently principal of Northeast Elementary School in Pinetown, has been named the new principal of Northside High School.

The announcement was made to Northside staff Monday afternoon.

Earlier in his career, Clark taught math at Northside. He will take over duties at Northside on Monday. Until then, he will work between Northeast and Northside.

“Mr. Clark has spent his entire career serving the students of Beaufort County,” said Don Phipps, superintendent of Beaufort County Schools. “His professional experience and knowledge of the community will be a benefit to everyone involved.”

Clark, a graduate of Washington High School and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, joined Beaufort County Schools as a math teacher at Chocowinity High School in 1997. He moved to Northside in 2000.

Clark began his administrative career as an assistant principal at P.S. Jones Middle School from 2002 to 2004. Clark became principal at Chocowinity Middle School in 2004. He served a stint as federal programs director for Beaufort County Schools before becoming principal at Northeast in 2007. Clark holds a master’s advanced degree from East Carolina University.

Now that the principal has been named, Clark will be a part of the process to hire a new assistant principal for Northside.
