Mrs. Flossie Moore Elks, 78, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011.

A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 4 pm in Pinewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Elks, a native of Pitt County, lived most of her life in the Pactolus community. She worked as a waitress and kitchen manager at the Dixie Queen and Carolina Grill for a number of years. She was later employed with National Spinning and Hamilton Beach prior to her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Elks; sons, William Earl Elks, Charles Henry Elks, and Johnny Lee Elks; and two sisters, Ada Godley and Maedell Jenks.

She is survived by her son, Billy Earl Elks and wife, Linda, of Winterville; daughters, Mary Ann Pollard and husband, Steve, and Alice Elks Hardee, all of Pactolus;

grandchildren, Steve Pollard, Jr., Lisa Ross and husband, Jeff, Becky Pollard McCray and husband, Curtis,

Gary William Shray, II, Jamie Elks, Billy “Harvey” Elks, Jr. and wife, Christy, William Lester ”Nicky” Elks, and Brenda Elks; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Mulder, of Eustis, FL, and half-sister, Cornelia Barton, of Pinetown; stepsisters, Alice Sutton, Lossie Edwards, both of Greenville, and Runell Guthrie, Troy, IL; and a stepbrother, Roy Lee Brock, of Greenville.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mary Ann and Steve Pollard, 4496 Old Creek Road, Greenville.
