Jimmy Arthur Tyer

Jimmy Arthur Tyer, 47, a resident of Oak Island, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at this home in Oak Island.

He was born in Washington, N.C., on July 25, 1964, to Jimmy H. Tyer and the late Sue Wallace Tyer. He graduated from Kinston High School in 1983. He attended Lenoir Community College and UNCW. He has lived in Oak Island for the past 12 years. He was known for his love, compassion and a smile that would brighten any room he entered. Prior to his death, he was working as a CNA in Oak Island where he captured the heart of those he cared for.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at Tanglewood Church of God in Kinston with pastor Allen Stocks officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Jimmy H. and Judy Tyer of Kinston; his brother, Dean Tyer of Oak Island; his aunt and uncle, Tommy and Shirley Tyer of Hampstead; his aunt, Sylvia Winfrey of Newport News, Va.; his cousins, Kathryn Winfrey of New Zealand, Rebecca Winfrey of Georgia, Felicia Clifton of Boiling Springs and Amber Clifton of Boston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
