Rev. Darryl Evans (right), associate minister at Washington’s First Presbyterian Church and president of the Ruth’s House Board, receives a $1,000 donation from Washington Noon President Frank Belote. Ruth’s House is an emerging domestic violence shelter serving Beaufort County that the community is launching through private donations. According to state funding requirements, new domestic violence agencies are not eligible for state funding aid until they have been operational for a year. Ruth’s House is committed to reducing and preventing domestic violence in Beaufort County by providing alternatives for family members who are victims of domestic violence, educating family members and the community, and providing services for victims of domestic violence.
