Mrs. Love Vallie Moyer Chittum, age 77, a resident of 610 Plant St., Washington, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home of Waynesboro, Va. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, Va.

Mrs. Chittum was born in Augusta County, Va. on Sept. 20, 1934, to the late Samuel and Virginia Morris Moyer. On Aug. 6, 1949, she married Hamilton Lester Chittum Sr. who survives. They were married for 62 years, 4 months, and 3 days. She never met a stranger, and she loved to fish.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Jean Eastman of Phoenix, Ariz., Vickie Jessen and husband Doug of Washington, Terry Annette Pauley of Augusta, Ga.; a son, Hamilton “H.L.” Lester Chittum Jr. of Washington; a brother, Sam Moyer and wife Shirley of Grottes, Va.; a sister, Gilda Cale of Middlebrook, Va.; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great–great–grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three grandsons, one brother and five sisters.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro, Va.
