Beaufort County Schools received a donation from Farm Bureau offices across the state. The collection for the donation was coordinated by the Craven County Farm Bureau. Don Phipps (left), superintendent of Beaufort County Schools, accepted a check for more than $12,000 for support of Hurricane Irene relief for area students. Helping Phipps display a replica of the check are Mac Hodges (center), chairman of the Beaufort County Board of Education, and Jason Jones, president of Craven County Farm Bureau. Funds were collected by more than 30 county Farm Bureaus and donated to four school systems in the east affected by Hurricane Irene. In addition to Beaufort County, Pamlico, Tyrrell and Washington counties were awarded donations by the group. (Submitted Photo/BCS)
