A soon-to-be graduate of Project New Hope: Refuge Intervention awaits the program’s eighth graduation ceremony Friday afternoon at First Presbyterian Church in Washington. The program has provided education and training to hundreds of local residents who have run afoul of the law and want to set their lives on a better path. Friday’s graduating participants were Cedric Betts, Alyssha Brown, Jacob Corey, Hasayn Godley, Jennifer Hopkins, Willie Lane Sr., Tylanda Mitchell, Shelton Nixon, Bobbie Brown, Tanesha Crandle, Lamar Hawkins, Myules Stewart, Ernest McCullough, Kendall Warren, Christopher Credle, Anthony Hopkins, Holly Rambo and LaTonya Hines. Project New Hope’s continued existence is threatened by a lack of funding. For more on this story, see the Dec. 21 edition of the Daily News. (WDN Photo/Jonathan Clayborne)
