Norman Hodges, Jr.

Mr. Norman Hodges, Jr., age 82, a resident of Old New Bern Rd., Chocowinity, NC passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011 at his home.
A graveside celebration of his life will be Monday, December 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Dixon Cemetery officiated Henry Horne. Special music will be provided by Kenneth Page. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at the home.
Mr. Hodges was born in Pitt County on August 5, 1929 to the late Norman Hodges and Mammie Paramore Hodges. He was married to the former Betty Dixon who survives. Norman was a supervisor with Singer Furniture Co. and retired after 36 years of service. He attended Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He loved hunting and fishing and his dog “Buddy.”
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons William Stephen Hodges and wife Judy of Washington and Terry A. Hodges and wife Selena of Blount’s Creek and daughter Betty Hodges Steele and husband Robert of Chocowinity; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by two sons, Jesse N. Hodges and Elbert Glenn Hodges.
