Annette Berry Mercer

Mrs. Annette Berry Mercer, age 71, a resident of 1059 South Creek Road, Aurora, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at South Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery and will be conducted by the Rev. Jack Bowen and pastor Robert Miller. Mitchell Suggs, Joshua Suggs, Daniel Suggs, Russell Tyson, Mike Henries and Doug Oakley will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Mercer was born in Pamlico County on Feb. 20, 1940, to the late William Thomas Berry and Alice Marie Gibbs Berry. On July 29, 1971, she married George Amblic Mercer who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2002. She was employed with the Aurora Medical Center for 13 years, was a member of the South Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was an honorary member of the Aurora Rescue Squad.
Survivors include two daughters, Neta Marie Mercer of Bradyville, Tenn., Sandra Smith and husband Ron of Pueblo, Co.; two sons, J.E. Suggs and wife Robin of Greenville, Ellis Suggs Jr. and wife Deborah of Aurora; five grandchildren, one step-grandchild and four great–grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Lintz, and three brothers, Carl Berry, Tommy Berry, and Willie Berry.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. today at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
