Mrs. Margarette G. Gibbs, 89, of 11150 North Lake Rd., Engelhard, died on Saturday December 31, 2011, at the home of her daughter.
Born May 3, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Christopher Lee Gibbs and Virginia Agnes Gibbs. She was married to George Thomas Gibbs who preceded her in death. She worked as a “green thumb” worker at Hyde County Head Start for several years and as a clerk at the former Farrow’s Red and White. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at the family plot at Fulford Cemetery, Leon Williams and Steve Bryan will officiate.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Jean Gibbs and husband Jerry of Engelhard; three grandchildren Eddie Gibbs, Wendy Gibbs and Teddy Gibbs; four great-grandchildren Brandy Gibbs, Allie Gibbs, Kyle Gibbs, and Victoria Gibbs; two great-great-grandchildren Christopher Privett and Lexi Privett.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son James A. Gibbs; brothers, John A. Gibbs, Marvin Gibbs, Tom Gibbs, Walter Lee Gibbs, Henry Gibbs, Curtis Gibbs and Jack Gibbs; a sister Nellie Tyrshc.
The family will receive friends at the home and arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service Swan Quarter.
