James Patrick O’Carroll

Mr. James Patrick O’Carroll, age 44, a resident of Raleigh, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Highland United Methodist Church in Raleigh officiated by pastor David Goehehrind.

Mr. O’Carroll was born in Beaufort County on April 17, 1967. He was the son of Gloria Jean Dickinson Jackson and Al Patrick O’Carroll. Mr. O’Carroll worked as a registered nurse as long as his health permitted. He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church, sang in the church choir and was a member of their supper club. In his spare time, Mr. O’Carroll enjoyed watching old movies.

Mr. O’Carroll is survived by his mother Jean Jackson, of Plymouth; his father, Al Patrick O’Carroll of Blount’s Creek; his brother and sister–in–law, Timothy Allen and Tracy O’Carroll of Chocowinity; a very close friend, Kevin Goodnight of Raleigh; special cousin, Robert Thomas Dickinson of Durham; and niece, Catherine O’Carroll of Chocowinity.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home of his mother, Jean Jackson, 21824 Highway 32 North, Plymouth. Stanley Jones will share remembrances with friends at the visitation.
