Two men face drug charges

On Friday, investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office’s Drug Unit arrested Poindexter Murray, 34, of 118 Big Hill Road, Edward, and David Stilley, 39, of 18090 N.C. Highway 33 East, Blount’s Creek. Their arrests stemmed from the sheriff’s office receiving several complaints about the sale and distribution of controlled substances in the Edward area. Investigators in the Drug Unit conducted surveillance and observed Murray and Stilley at the Veri Kwik gas station in Edward. Investigators approached Murray’s vehicle and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from it. A search of the vehicle and its occupants revealed crack-cocaine, marijuana packaged in plastic baggies and $555 in currency. Stilley was found to be in possession of a crack-cocaine smoking pipe.
Murray was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to facilitate drug activity, resisting a public officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. Stilley was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Murray was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond. Stilley was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $300 secured bond.
