William Woolard “Wooly” Modlin

William Woolard “Wooly” Modlin, 69, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, following a brief illness.

A native of Washington, Wooly graduated from Washington High School (‘61) and East Carolina University. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a former Choir Director at First United Methodist Church in Washington.

He also spent many years working in hotel management in Myrtle Beach.

Mr. Modlin is preceded in death by his parents, Roland B. Modlin Sr. and Mary Woolard Modlin. He is survived by his loving wife, Saundra, of Myrtle Beach; his stepmother, Dora Harris Modlin, brother Blount and wife Debbie, and sister Susan, all of Washington; his brother, Horace and wife Bunny of Goldsboro; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

No services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to your local United Way or other charity of your choice.
