On Dec. 28, 2011, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of fraud that occurred at a business on U.S. Highway 17, Vanceboro. According to the report, a recycling business was sold stolen metal.

As a result of an investigation, Investigator Wesley Waters obtained warrants charging David Lawrence Bryan, 24, of Foster Road, Greenville, and Joseph Scott Vick, 26, of Alvin Road, Grimesland, each with two counts each of obtaining property by false pretenses.

On Dec. 16, 2011, Bryan turned himself in at the Beaufort County magistrates’ office and was released under a $2,500 unsecured bond set by Magistrate David Curtis. Vick was served by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office while he was incarcerated in the Pitt County Detention Center on unrelated charges. Vick was held under an additional $7,500 secured bond set by a Pitt County magistrate.
