Mr. William Franklin Jarman Jr., age 67, a resident of 510 Kugler Camp Road, Washington, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at University Health Systems-Beaufort Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church of Washington, officiated by the Rev. Lee Kinney. Burial will be private.

Mr. Jarman was born in Beaufort County on April 16, 1944, to the late William Franklin Jarman Sr. and Mary Ella Cutler Jarman. He was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School and a 1968 graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Jarman served active duty in the Army from 1968 until 1971 and later served in the Army Reserve and National Guard, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. On Feb. 27, 1971, Mr. Jarman married the former Dava Drew, who survives. He was the owner of Concepts, Inc., which is an ad specialty distributor company. Mr. Jarman had served on the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) board, which was an international ad specialty organization. He had also served as President of the Carolinas Association of Advertising Specialists (CAAS) and was inducted into the CAAS Hall of Fame in 2005. Mr. Jarman was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Washington.

In addition to his wife Dava of the home, Mr. Jarman is survived by a daughter, Ellen M. Jarman of Cary, and a cousin, Milly Green and husband Johnny of Auburn, Ala.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. tonight at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home located at 510 Kugler Camp Road, Washington, NC 27889.
