Evans to run for House

Jerry Evans has announced he’ll run for state House in District 6.
Evans will run as a Republican.
Evans is a Realtor and a former candidate for Beaufort County commissioner.
He was a Democrat when he ran for office the last time, but has switched to the Republican Party.
“As a local business owner, I have the skills to balance a budget, provide employment and work with people,” he said in a news release. “I like doing business the old fashioned way; identify the real problem, debate the issues, come to a solution and support the individuals responsible to resolve the problem.”
Evans joins Dare County Democrat Paul Tine in announcing for the District 6 seat.
State Rep. Bill Cook, R-Beaufort, is running for state Senate and doesn’t desire re-election to the District 6 post.
