Harriett Heynen Mish

Harriett Heynen Mish, 91, of 4061 River Road, Washington, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at her home.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington, with the funeral services following at 2 p.m. Reverend Danny Allen of First United Methodist Church will be officiating. Dr. David McLawhorn, Milton Brooks, Paul Bright, Dal Latham, Devon Mish and Ryan Quidley will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Mish was born in Naperville, Ill., July 24, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Ruby Heynen. After the Heynen Family moved to Washington, Harriett was employed by Carolina Telephone for many years and retired in 1978. Harriett was a Christian and a member of First United Methodist Church of Washington. She served as secretary of the Sunday School Primary Department many years ago.

Harriett married William Albert Mish Jr. of Washington in September 1967.

Mrs. Mish is survived by her stepdaughters, Susan Mish of Chapel Hill and Anna Mish of Fairfax, Va.; two step-grandsons, Brian Lippert and Ross Lippert; and Ann Gabish Cherry, a devoted niece of Harriett’s husband, Albert. Mrs. Mish was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her brother, Wilbur Heynen and her stepdaughter, Linda Mish Weigt.

Harriett has been cared for by Golden Way Home Care, Inc. of Washington and was very devoted to Sue Wilson, who became a close friend to Harriett, Rosa Harrell and Linda Woolard among many other Golden Way employees.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the New Horizon Fund of First United Methodist Church, 304 W. Second St., Washington, NC 27889.
