Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.
Our Jan. 10 edition of the Washington Daily News stated that county commissioner, Mr. Hood Richardson stated, for the record, he is an expert with 25 years experience and that Blount’s Creek is a freshwater body. I am not blowing my smoke about being an expert, but I live on Blount’s Creek and I fish daily. … We have had God-given, brackish water since the beginning of time. Help us or stay out of the way.
Boy, the county commissioners are really going to stick it to us now. We had a revaluation in 2010. My property (value) went up 90 percent with no improvements and I’m not on the waterways. And now they’re going to re-evaluate again. My prices are down and everybody’s property will go up again. The citizens are not stupid about this. That’s all they’re doing, looking at being able to raise it again and increase the money coming in from the taxes.
