If the Belhaven Town Council wants to save itself some money, maybe it should get rid of the officers who ride three to a car.

Bishop Jones is asking the city for $50,000 in public funds to try to run the program that his church started. Churches should be doing that as a free volunteer purpose, not paying salaries and fringe benefits to staff members. Looks like it’s more about looking out for themselves than helping somebody. I don’t think public funds should be used for this purpose.

I keep seeing workers working on the county and city buildings in man-lifts. They’re wearing harnesses, but they’re not tied off. I don’t think OSHA goes along with that. You might want to have somebody do something about it before they get a big fine.
