Mr. and Mrs. Thurston Sumner of Suffolk, Va., announce the birth of their son Thurston Bradford Sumner IV on December 21, 2011, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Thurston Bradford weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 21 inches long. The mother is the former Susan Johnston.

Maternal grandparents are Frank and Mickie Johnston of Washington, N.C.

Paternal grandparents are Bill and Susan Cobleigh of Wallingford, Vt., and the late Brad Sumner.

Great-grandparents are the late Jim and Ruby Moore and Jimmy and Lucy Johnston.
