Why is it the City of Washington has yet to winterize the public bathrooms at Festival Park so the public may use them winterized yet? The lights are on. We’re paying an electric bill to have lights on in a bathroom we can’t use.

Thanks to Bartow Houston for so elegantly describing the way most of us feel about good, old traditional hymn singing, as well as how much it meant to us as children. I pray that ministers and leaders of the churches at least consider this because it affects us all. Everyone joined in, and the young people enjoyed it and learned from it. Look around you now and observe the songs that are sung with glee, and those that only a few sing. Please help us.

Could somebody contact Hood Richardson and see if he’s going to run for governor of North Carolina, being that Gov. Beverly Perdue is not seeking re-election?

I’m a resident of Beaufort County. I saw that the Humane Society of Beaufort County had its meeting in January, and I went. I was absolutely amazed at how much it does in the county. People have no idea how much it does and take care of with regard to the animals in the shelter here in Beaufort County. It’s amazing.

Your editorial cartoon regarding the late Joe Paterno was absolutely tasteless.
