Mr. Major “Churchill” Lewis

Mr. Major “Churchill” Lewis, age 68, formerly of Chocowinity, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Cherry Point Bay Nursing Home in Havelock.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington conducted by pastor David Linton. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Mr. Lewis was born in Beaufort County on Feb. 3, 1944. He was the son of the late Major Wright Lewis and Ella Mae Hill Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a mechanic and carpenter. In his spare time, he loved to fish.
Mr. Lewis is survived by two sons, Major Churchill Lewis II, Allen Thomas Lewis and wife, Jeannie; a daughter, Mary Magdalene Little and husband, Justin Dwayne, who was not only a son-in-law but his fishing buddy; four grandchildren, Destiny, Nickolas, Kaitlin, Tyler May; and three sisters, Carolyn Lewis of Pinetown, Shelvie Morris of Gordonville, Va., and Jeanette Driver of Amelia, Va.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Lewis and Hubby Lewis; and a sister, Shelby Ann Lewis.
