Gerald “Don” Adams Sr.

Mr. Gerald “Don” Adams Sr., age 58, a resident of East Bay St., Belhaven, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service, officiated by Linwood Adams. Burial will follow at Ross Cemetery. The family received friends Monday at Hillside Funeral Service and will receive friends at other times at the home. Branden Adams, Ronnie Cahoon, Jim Foreman, CD Harding, Anthony Parsons and Jerry Stender will serve as pallbearers.

Don was born on June 2, 1953, in Beaufort County, son of the late Stafford Benjamin Adams and former Nellie Bullock. He graduated from Pantego High School. Don was a logger for several years and most recently worked for Carawan Logging in New Bern. He enjoyed playing the drums and singing, and played with various groups in the area. Don was a resident of Beaufort County for most of his life.

Survivors include his son, Gerald Don “DJ” Adams Jr. of Belhaven; daughter, Jennifer “Jenny” Lynn Bush of New Bern; brothers, Kenneth W. Adams and Dennis D. Adams, both of Chocowinity; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Christine Cashion and brothers, Benjii Adams and Bryon Adams.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Mr. Don Adams, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK  73123.
