Joseph J. Tighe

Joseph J. Tighe, 76, a resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Elizabeth R. Tighe and was married to Janet E. Tighe of the home. Joseph was a veteran of the United States Army, worked for McNeil Laboratories, a division of Johnson and Johnson, as a pharmaceutical research technician for 35 years, helping to develop Tylenol. He was an avid fisherman who loved to fish from the surf.
Including his wife, Mr. Tighe is survived by his daughters, Jenifer Tighe of Columbia and Jaclyn Tighe of Greenville; and a grandson, Nicholas Tighe.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at Twiford Funeral Home, 405 East Church St, Elizabeth City, with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. The family will receive friends in the lobby after the service. Twiford Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church St., Elizabeth City, is serving the Tighe family.
