Williams seeks state House

Former state Rep. Arthur Williams on Tuesday filed to run for the state House in District 6.

The Washington Democrat-turned-Republican had indicated he would run for state Senate, but changed his mind, opting to work on regaining his old seat in the House in a district newly redrawn last year by the GOP-led General Assembly.

Also, on Wednesday, Donald Dixon, a former Republican candidate for Beaufort County sheriff, announced he would file to run for county commissioner. This brings to five the number of Republicans seeking four available seats on the county board.
