Jutta B. VanEssendelft, 1947 – 2012

Jutta Binder VanEssendelft, 64, a resident of 118 Ravenwood Lane, Belhaven, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hamburg, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Kurt and Grete Ziggert Binder. She came to New York at the age of 14 as an exchange student and her family immigrated here two years later. She was married to Lawrence D. VanEssendelft who survives.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Covenant United Reformed Church, Pantego, with Rev. Calvin Tuininga officiating. Burial will follow in Yeatesville Cemetery. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Matthew David VanEssendelft and wife Rebecca of Granville, Iowa, and Mark Christopher VanEssendelft and wife
Carla of Belhaven; grandchildren, Savannah, Ashley, Noah, Gresham, Judson, Levi, Abigail, Joshua, Josiah, Daniel, Hannah.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jorg Peter Binder.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Covenant United Reformed Church, P.O. Box 7, Pantego, NC 27825. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and other times at the home.
