Wedding – Lowe-Halsey

Sarah Elizabeth Lowe and David Andrew Halsey were united in marriage Saturday, May 28, 2011, at five o’clock in the evening at First United Methodist Church in Washington, North Carolina. Rev. Danny Allen and Rev. Johnny Barber officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Robert and Beth Lowe of Pinetown, NC. She is the granddaughter of Vida Lowe of Belhaven and the late Robert Randolph Lowe, Sr., and the late Lucy McHarney Williams, and the late W.E. “Bud” Williams, of Belhaven. She is the step-granddaughter of Ann S. Williams of Greenville, NC.
The groom is the son of Rev. Frank and Sharon Halsey of Jamesville, NC. He is the grandson of Shelva Jean Halsey of Edenton, NC, and the late Frank Gray Halsey, Sr., and the late Floyd Clayton Snyder and the late Eunice Snyder of Windsor, NC.
The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents. The bride wore a white, a-line gown made of silk satin. The tank style top was made of alecon lace and was embellished with pearls, clear sequins and bugle beads. The waistline was accented with a petite drape. The back of the gown featured a lace keyhole back and covered buttons that flowed into a chapel length train. She wore a white flower and feather headpiece. One of her garters was made from the lace of her mother’s wedding gown. Her bouquet was of red hand-tied roses and miniature calla lilies.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Stephanie Brooke Lowe of Pinetown, NC. Bridesmaids were Jessica Halsey of Williamston, NC., sister-in-law of the groom, Abbie Mizelle Skiles of Washington, NC, friend of the bride and groom, Tabitha VanderAa of Jamesville, NC, sister of the groom, Dianne Hughes of Virginia Beach, Va., friend of the bride and groom.
The maid of honor wore a red chiffon a-line knee length gown. The gathered bodice was accented with petite rhinestone clusters and featured an empire waist. The bridesmaids wore red chiffon halter style gowns. The gowns were accented with white trim. The empire waist flowed into a center pleated knee length skirt. They wore pearl necklaces and earrings that were gifts from the bride. They carried bouquets of white roses with miniature carnations and baby’s breath.
Flower girl was Miss Natalie Peterson of Hertford, NC, friend of the bride and groom. Miniature bride was Torrie VanderAa of Jamesville, niece of the groom.
Rev. Frank Halsey, Jr. of Jamesville, NC, served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Jonathan Halsey of Williamston, NC, twin brother of the groom, Bishop Williams of Arapahoe, NC, cousin of the bride, Art VanderAa of Jamesville, brother-in-law of the groom and Joshua Hughes of Virginia Beach, Va., friend of the bride and groom.
Mistresses of ceremony were Terry Biggs and Marsha Bowes. Register attendant was Hope Barber.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Flair by Sharon in Washington hosted by the parents of the bride. Red and white linens covered the tables and the red and white theme was carried out in the decorations. Arrangements of red and pink roses, white daisies and baby’s breath adorned the tables. The white three-tiered wedding cake was served by Terry Biggs. An easel accented with a tulle bow displayed the bridal portrait. Music was provided by Steve and Debra Baker of Chocowinity, NC.
Friday evening, an after-rehearsal dinner was hosted by parents of the groom, in the garden at Flair by Sharon in Washington.
Sunday, April 2, 2011, a floating miscellaneous shower given by family of the groom was held at Shadow of the Cross Church in Jamesville, NC.
Sunday, April 17, 2011, a floating miscellaneous shower given by Terry Biggs, friend of the bride’s family, was held at Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Washington, NC.
Saturday, May 14, 2011, a bachelorette party/lingerie shower given by the bridal attendants and friends of the bride was held at the home of the bride in Williamston, NC.
A floating miscellaneous shower given by co-workers of the bride was held at Roanoke River Rehabilitation Center in Williamston, NC.
The bride is a graduate of Beaufort County Community College LPN Nursing program and is currently enrolled in the RN program. She is employed by Roanoke River Rehabilitation Center in Williamston, NC.
The groom is a graduate of Beaufort County Community College Basic Law Enforcement Training program. He is a Deputy Sheriff for Martin County Sheriff’s Department in Williamston, NC.
After a honeymoon in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the couple has made their home in Williamston, NC.
