Minnie Charlton Cole, 89, a resident of Virginia Beach, Va., passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, in Norfolk. She was born in North Carolina to the late Richard and Hattie Powell Sutton. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, Nathan Cole, and a son, Raleigh “Ted” Charlton. She was a member of Plymouth United Methodist Church, and former member of Jolliff United Methodist Church, Chesapeake, Va.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carolyn Atkins and husband Kenneth, and Marion Malone and husband Ronald; grandchildren, Sean Malone and wife Dorothy, Virginia Malone, and Rebecca Wilkie and husband Scott; great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Nathan; sister, Magdalene Edwards; and brother, Jan F. Sutton and wife Elaine.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 7 p.m. tonight,  at Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake, VA,with the family to receive friends following the service. Burial will be private at a later date in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk, Va.
